Mobile phones have been one of the leading causes of accidents not only for drivers and motorists but also for pedestrians. You see, this happens when we are so engrossed at sending a message or reading an SMS or checking out what’s happening online on our mobile phone that we forget that we are in a dangerous zone - cars are speeding all around us.

Now so as to alleviate such a problem, there is one Japanese company, OKI, who is currently working up on a new kind of technology for mobile phones. This new one would actually alert and constantly remind pedestrians about being careful when in the outside jungle. This new technology would be used on mobile phones as well as on vehicles that come with the DSRC (meaning Dedicated Short Range Communications) technology.

If you are a pedestrian, you would be feeling your mobile phone vibrate if you come in the range of a vehicle around 150 meters of your vicinity. And if you are a driver, your GPS system would tell you through voice warnings that there is a pedestrian in your midst.

I think this one’s to be released in 2011 in Japan.

If you thought that Apple would give up on the Apple TV soon, it appears that you’re wrong. Although it’s still far from the storage capacity that we would like to have, 160GB should be enough to keep a considerable amount of media in the device.

But if that upgrade wasn’t good enough for you, then you’ll be happy to hear that Apple will soon bring YouTube functionality to Apple TV, during the month of June, which will take Apple TV in a surprising new direction. Instead of simply being the link between your computer and your television, it will be, more or less, an internet video recorder.

The upgraded model will be available for $399 and should be available for purchase right now. Let us hope that in the meantime, YouTube considers increasing the size of the videos a little bit, because some of them will probably look awful on an HD Television.

May 31st, 2007Firefox 2.0.0.4 released

The latest version of the popular browser, which we featured here not too long ago, has just been released. Unfortunately, there are no new features for it. It is simply a security update that increases compatibility with the Vista Operative System.

There are also two new language translations of the browser in Afrikaans (af) and Belarusian (be), which should convince some new users from those countries to make the switch. If you want to see the complete changelog, just click here, or if you want to get this latest version, just go to getfirefox.com.
